Protecting our habitats and wildlife
We strive to protect the essence of what makes a place special. Through responsible tourism practices, stakeholder partnerships, conservation initiatives and wildlife protection, we strike a balance between exploration and preservation.
Our Progress
Cruise Whitsundays
Cruise Whitsundays is a proud partner of Eco Barge Clean Seas, a local not for profit environmental organisation that was established in the Whitsundays region to protect our precious marine life and aquatic environment. Eco Barge has a number of initiatives – The Whitsunday Marine Debris Removal Program is an on-going program focused on removing harmful marine debris from the islands and coastline to help protect the iconic Whitsunday region. The Whitsunday Turtle Rescue Centre was established to care for injured and sick marine turtles and eventually release them back into their natural environment.
Cruise Whitsundays also has Advanced Eco Certification for Camira Sailing Adventure, Great Barrier Reef Adventures, Reefsleep and the Whitehaven Beach Day Cruises. This globally recognised certificate is only given to Australia’s leading and most innovative ecotourism products. We are committed to achieving best practice, using resources wisely, contributing to the conservation of the environment and helping local communities.
Outback Spirit
As an eco-certified company, Outback Spirit regularly reviews its potential impact on natural, cultural and historical environments. We strive to be ecologically sustainable and limit our impact on the environment through good practice, innovation and financial support for Australia’s pre-eminent wildlife conservation group, AWC (Australian Wildlife Conservancy).
AWC is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the protection of our most precious wildlife. With 3 million hectares under conservation locations such as the Kimberley, Gulf of Carpentaria, Cape York and Lake Eyre, AWC is making a real difference in the fight against extinction. Since 2008, Outback Spirit has donated over $1 million to AWC and will continue its support well into the future.
